What Type of Chlorine Can I Use with PoolRx Installed in The Pool?
I’ve PoolRx installed in my pool, what’s the type of chlorine can I use with it?
All types of chlorine are compatible with PoolRx. It’s very important to note, if you’re going to use Calcium Hypochlorite Cal-Hypo pool shock, make sure to dissolve and dilute it before pouring in the swimming pool slowly as you walk around deep end of pool, so it can further dilute. If you don’t dissolve cal-hypo shock before putting in the pool that has PoolRx installed in it, the PoolRx minerals will make that particular type of chlorine so active and available, that if you just sprinkle it in, depending on your water chemistry, it can INSTANTLY OXIDIZE WHEN IT SETTLES TO BOTTOM AND TOUCHES THE SURFACE and you won’t have time to brush it up. The granular cal-hypo chlorine, pool shock instantly turns black/grey. It will eventually go away after a few weeks, and there is an easy fix to clean it up sooner, but it’s totally avoidable if you just
dissolve and dilute the cal-hypo before pouring in the pool.
To fix the issue:
- Lower pH to 7.2 or less and Alkalinity to 80 or less.
- After water is in this range, Use 1 quart of Jacks Magic Blue Stuff per 10,000 gallons.
For extreme cases or if you want faster results, you can do 1.5x -2x of the dose - Run the swimming pool pump for 24 hours and keep water in this pH and Alkalinity range.
- Within 48-72 hours the oxidized Cal-Hypo will be off the surface. This solution is safe to swim in while it’s working.
